About Me

Hello, my name is Laura De La Cruz. I recently graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a BFA in Communication Design and a minor in Marketing. During my stay at school, I acquired over 3 years of graphic design experience in various aspects of the field including editorial, marketing, and human-centered design. The experience and education I’ve gained has shaped me into a socially-aware, research-driven, bilingual communication designer with the ability to create innovative, pragmatic, and effective design solutions.

At one point during my academic career I was steps away from changing my major to Childhood Education… until I saw a beautiful typographic poster display that quickly changed my mind. One of my greatest passions in life is working with underserved youth and helping the less privileged, my humble upbringing in rural Mexico and transition to the U.S has fueled this desire. Thanks to the curriculum at MSU Denver, that exposed me to human-centered and research-driven design methods, I’ve discovered that I can  interweave my passion for design and aiding the underserved into a meaningful career that I have begun to explore in projects like dify and Comunidad La Piedra. My goal is to one day have my own design firm that implements opportunities for social evolution within a community, through user-centered, research-driven, design-based solutions.

Until I figure out how to make this happen, I would love to continue learning, growing and applying my passion, knowledge, and skill set to opportunities that come my way.

Thank you for reading 🙂
